Inspecting Your Car Our restoration process begins with a complete inspection. We examine the entire car from front to back looking at how much rust damage the car may have and what new sheet metal its going to need to get. Chassis & Frame Once we dismantle your Healey, we cut out all of the rotted metal. We rebuild your original chassis and frame by sandblasting each piece down to bare metal. Any decayed area is replaced with new steel which is welded with a mig welder or tig welder. Then we place the chassis and frame on a frame rack and check the frame dimension data. Then, we epoxy prime and seal the seams of your car. All of the outer body panels are chemically stripped or sandblasted to bare metal. Any decayed area is removed and either new steel or aluminium is fitted in, continuously fitting the metal to the chassis to insure a proper fit. Body & Paint When all of the chassis and body panels are welded, planished, and fit, it is then primed with a PPG epoxy primer. Then many hours are spent in filing, filling and blocking until the outer body panels are ready for the final sanding. The chassis is painted with an acrylic enamel with catalyst added. Along with the inside of the body panels, the exterior body panels are painted with a PPG base clear coat system applying the proper mills. Then, we apply the color of your choice to your healey. After an adequate drying time, each panel is wet-sanded and hand buffed to a maximum shine. Capturing The Process During your car's restoration, we document every step with pictures, so you can visually see how your classic car has evolved. This is an important process because you can see exactly what has been done during the entire restoration. Its a good idea to keep your pictures in a photo album, so future buyers can see how your car was restored. Also, its great for insurance purposes as well.
